This 160 acre park is about half way through its $58 million renovation, which started almost two years ago. Some parts of the Buffalo Bayou Park project have already completed, such as the Eleanor Tinsley Park, the two pedestrian bridges and asphalt jogging trail.
Still under construction is a visitor’s center, event space and the Johnny Steele Dog Park, which will have separate ponds for small and large dogs. By its completion in summer of 2015, the Buffalo Bayou Park will also be upgraded with over 14,000 new native trees to provide extra shade and 11 acres of prairie.
A public celebration at the dog park is planned for January 2015. More details to come in an upcoming post.
